How to store files and manage your space on My-personal-files.com

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Once you have signed in to your account, click on "Control Panel" in the menu bar at the top of the page.

2. From the Control Panel page, select the yellow button by Online Storage.

3. Your Personal Files page now appears. This page allows you to do 6 tasks:

Task 1. Create Folders.

It will be easy to find a particular document if you place it in an appropriately named folder. Let's use the name "Medical Records" as an example.

i. Create this folder by typing in "medicalrecords" (no space) in the space provided and click Continue.

ii. The folder "medicalrecords" will appear in your storage space directory located below the blue boxes labeled Folder/Files. Right now, there are no files or records in that folder, but it is set up and waiting for you to put something into it.

Task 2. Upload Files.

Say you just received your latest blood test from your doctor and you would like to save a copy of that blood test in your "medicalrecords" folder.

i. Select the Browse button on the Add File: line and find the copy of your blood test on your computer. (file name "bloodtest")

ii. Once you have located the correct file, click on the yellow Upload button.

iii. The file "bloodtest" is now stored on our secure servers in your storage space and is now listed in the storage space directory under the folder "medicalrecords".

Task 3. Move a file into a folder.

To move the file "bloodtest" into the folder "medicalrecords", just follow these steps:

i. Scroll over the left side of the word "bloodtest" and a small menu will appear with two listings root and "medicalrecords".

ii. Click on "medicalrecords" to move the file "bloodtest" into that folder. (Root is a term referring to the space in your storage space that isn't a part of a folder or file. It is where bloodtest was located before you moved it, that is, the default location.)

Task 4. Edit a file or folder.

i. To edit or delete the folder medicalrecords, select the Edit or Delete button in the right hand column labeled "Action".

ii. To edit or delete the file bloodtest, select the Edit or Delete button in the same column. (Note: you cannot edit a document previously uploaded to your storage space. To edit a document (for example, to change a paragraph in a stored contract, you must first download the document to your desktop, edit it there, and then reupload it to your storage space on My-personal-files.com.)

Task 5. Search for a file or folder.

i. Find the Search bar located just above the row of blue boxes.

ii. Enter as much as you know about what you are looking for in the appropriate box and click on the Search button.

iii. The search result will be listed in the directory below.

Task 6. Download a file.

i. Select the folder the file is in. In our example, let's download our bloodtest file so we will want select our "medicalrecords" folder.

ii. A listing of all the files in the "medicalrecords" folder will appear.

iii. Select the blue box in the Select column next to bloodtest file to download the file.

iv. To keep notes to yourself, go to your Control Panel and choose the Notepad button. This utility is a useful tool to remind yourself where things are located in your space. You can also make notes or record instructions here. Using this notepad does not use up any of your storage space on our servers and it is there to give you a place to put "notes to self".
